Building Stone Veneer Office-Showroom Razing Brings Best Opportunities

Demolition of buildings optimizes opportunities in the quarry and the office.

FOND DU LAC, Wisconsin – Buechel Stone Corporation has made the strategic decision to relocate their Fond du Lac office and showroom resources and combine its contractor and retail sales with their National Sales hub just five miles off of 151 in Chilton. “We have a long and memorable history associated with this building, and want to express our sincerest thanks to the Fond du Lac community,” said Scott Buechel, President of Buechel Stone. “The decision wasn’t easy. But after being denied permitting for a new quarry a few years ago and with the building coming due for extensive maintenance, updates, and repairs; it was determined that the best use of the property for the next five to ten years will be as a fully operational quarry.”

One building has already come down. And as Buechel Stone continues to quarry, additional buildings will be demolished as well. “Our target date to close Fond du Lac office operations is no later than March 29th. Once all staff have left the building, there will no longer be customer pickups at this location.” stated Mike Buechel, COO of Buechel Stone. “It is our intention to tear down the office and showroom before the end of the year, depending on the timelines available with the contractor(s) taking them down. The key for us is the fact that it’s just a building. Our staff and team are really the most important part of the business.”

Building Stone Veneer - Buechel Stone Supplier Rockstar Team Most Important Resources

Buechel Stone has already made a company-wide announcement to its team, whom they proudly refer to as rockstars, with assurances that their positions are secure. All Fond du Lac office talent will transition to Buechel Stone’s National Sales location, where there is ample office space. Rotating rack displays will be used to showcase building stone veneer and cut stone products during the interim, with long-term intentions of further enhancing the already impressive National Sales showroom to a full design center. “Essentially, we’re moving contractor and retail sales to one central corporate location while maintaining convenient accessibility for our customers,” said Tony Mueller, V.P. of Sales at Buechel Stone.

“Although this has been a hard decision for everyone, we feel it is the best use of our resources, both in the quarry and the office,” stated April Dowland, Vice President of HR and Operations at Buechel Stone. “We wouldn’t have moved forward unless we were completely confident it would help our near-term requirements for natural stone, while also allowing for better utilization of the office spaces currently vacant. This decision was in alignment with our mission of providing best experiences while promoting the highest quality domestic stone products [building stone veneer, landscape stone, and cut stone] and uniting our rockstar team to continue to grow the company the right way.”
