Chilton, Wisconsin – January 7, 2025: Scott Buechel, president and co-owner of Buechel Stone, has retired as of December 31, 2024.
Scott became a Buechel Stone owner in 1977 when his parents sold the business to him and his brothers. Throughout Buechel Stone’s 60-year history, Scott has served the company in several roles including production, sales, purchasing, and most recently as President since 2016 – all a reflection of Scott’s willingness to do whatever was needed to help the business be successful. Even as he approached his retirement date, it was not unusual to see Scott driving a loader or assisting clients with their stone selections.
Scott’s passion for natural stone also reached beyond his family business. He spent many years involved with the Building Stone Institute, serving as Vice President in 2006 and President in 2007.
“I had no idea when I became a business owner at 19 years old where my career would go, let alone that my brothers and I were taking the first step in making Buechel Stone a multi-generational legacy,” shares Scott. “So much has changed along the way, but the key to our success is that as we grew, we have always looked to work with people of personal integrity. As I retire and the company celebrates 60 years in business, it makes me proud and happy to see the business staying in the family and that legacy continue.”
Scott has transitioned his ownership shares of the business to his two children, Shaun Buechel and Dominique Von Wald, who will be joining their cousin Mike Buechel as the third generation of owners.
